Graduate Students
Students interested in a position in Spring/Fall 2025 are encouraged to apply. Background in one or more of the areas is preferred.
Position 1: Processing and characterization of functional materials
- Polymer and nanoparticle synthesis for advanced manufacturing methods or functional behavior
- Characterization of mechanical, electrical, morphology, and rheological properties
- Instrumentation and control of thermal, electrical, dielectric, and pneumatic actuators
Position 2: Mechanics and manufacturing of architected devices
- Computational solid mechanics, structural dynamics and multistability, adhesion, and fracture mechanics
- Physics-driven design, finite element analysis (FEA), and FEA programs
- Basics of generative design (with related software) and mechatronics (microcontrollers)
General qualifications: The common qualifications required for both positions include:
- BS in Mechanical, Materials, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering
- Meet the requirements for graduate admission stated in the ME Department link
- Excellent programing skills and knowledge of machine learning platforms
